In April 2024 we embarked on an epic journey across Mauritania to ride the infamous Iron Ore Train. 18 hours on a commercial train loaded with iron ore, from the mines of Zouerat, in the middle of the Sahara desert, to Nouadhibou, on the Atlantic Ocean. With temperatures varying from 45 degrees during the day, to around 5 at night.
Pointless? 100%. Dangerous? A little bit. Epic? It’s an understatement.
And then, along the way to Zouerat, where the train starts, oasis in the middle of the desert, sand dunes, wrecked taxis, thousands of cups of tea, and the local people, some of the nicest, most welcoming people we’ve ever met.
My main goal, besides the experience itself, was shooting a YouTube vlog of the entire adventure, but I also managed to shoot a photo reportage of the trip. Defintely hope to get inspired from the photos and embrace the adventure anytime soon!
